I've never been particularly interested in that show or its predecessor, The Bachelor and I won't even insult your intelligence by listing off the various reasons why: "You can't find love on TV show." "They're all just doing it for the money." Whatever, who cares. I just thought it was cheesetastic.
But I heard about the whole Bentley saga and my curiosity was piqued. "Ugly duckling." "Would've been happy if it was the other one." "I'm going to make her cry. I hope my hair looks good."
This was like, all my insecurities laid bare! And my every worst suspicion of how douchy guys can be and what they really think about girls.
So while I don't understand what transpired between Bentley and Ashley to make her become so smitten - I mean, it's probably because he wasn't so into her, but still fed her enough lines here and there to make her think he was - either way, the girl fell in love with him. And her reward was to be ridiculed on national TV for it. The worst part is, this guy has a daughter! Whom I'm sure he would never want to have someone treat her so callously.
This conversation took place BEFORE I watched. And clearly, that's like wayyyy too psychological an explanation. Now that I've watched, I can say my friend is totally right.
He's just a douche.

i used to write love letters to the boy i was "in love" with in the 9th grade. i'd walk by his friends in the hallway and they'd be reading my letters aloud - totally making fun of me. soul crushing. broke my little innocent heart. boys are assholes. but there are a few good men out there. somewhere. i think. i hope...
ReplyDeleteI don't actually watch this show but Andrea over at "Caffeinate Me" has been doing recaps and HOLY LORD it just sounds like an epic trainwreck. I feel so bad for this girl. Then again, I guess that's what you get for going on national television for this sort of thing. Still... ugh. I hate douchey guys. HATE.
